The program for Khmer New Year celebrations at Phnom Penh’s Wat Phnom Has been announced.

The National Administration of Phnom Penh will organize “Wat Phnom Sankranti” at Wat Phnom Cultural and Historical Resort for 4 days from 13 to 16 April 2024 from 8:00am to 8.00pm.

It states that it’s aim is to participate in the celebration of the National New Year, the traditional year of Rong Chhasak 2568 AD 2024, and to make this ceremony solemn, to provide fun to the people, as well as to preserve the traditions and customs.

In this Sankranti, there are many traditional national programs and entertainment such as New Year Angel Reception, Parade of Buddha, Sand Hill, Srong Preah, Performing Arts, Traditional Dance, Traditional Dance, National Folk Games (Catching kites and grabbing leaves) as well as Classical music-dance performances showcasing ancient paintings and cultural artifacts.

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration has called on people from all walks of life to come and enjoy the Wat Phnom Sankranti in large numbers under the cool shade of peace.

 
The Phnom Penh Capital Administration has instructed the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commission, the Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie Command, the 14 Khan Administration and the specialized departments around Phnom Penh Capital Administration to disseminate and implement effectively and responsibly.
